A highly unusual pair of folk figures, in the form of runaway slaves. Both are dressed in typical mid-nineteenth century style, she, with a calico apron over a long striped dress; he, wearing a shirt that looks like "home-spun" fabric; both are holding the type of sack typically shown in 19th-century depictions of runaway slaves.
